Discovering Engineering: Texas A&M Discovering Engineering is scheduled for Saturday, October 22, 2005. Innovating the past, modifying the present, engineering the future. If you are interested in exploring being an engineer, scientist, or mathematician, we invite you to DISCOVER ENGINEERING. The goal of this event is to provide an opportunity for 9th-12th grade high school students to come together and share the experience of learning about engineering through interactive discussions, laboratory tours, and small group workshops. These will be led by the College of Engineering faculty, graduate students, industry professionals and NASA professionals. Dr. Nancy Currie will be sharing her stories about her experience as an astronaut since 1990 with four space shuttle missions under her belt. We would also like to invite parents, high school students, and secondary teachers to participate in these unique workshops designed to help guide students to an exciting and rewarding career in engineering. The conference is hosted by the Dwight Look College of Engineering at Texas A&M University, which is the second largest engineering college in the nation, with almost 9,000 students and 12 departments. The College ranks among the top five producers in the country for undergraduate engineering degrees. U.S. News & World Report ranks the Texas A&M Engineering undergraduate program 14th among 181 U.S. universities (8th among public institutions). Texas A&M Engineering was ranked first in the nation in the latest Hispanic Outlook survey of America's schools. More facts and statistics. Bring your enthusiasm, curiosity and yearn for learning about engineering to the Discover Engineering conference!
