Roanoke College Student Receives Internship in Peru Roanoke
College: Public Relations Nichols will be working in the consular section of the U.S. Embassy. He will be working alongside a foreign service officer and will be expected to work on the same projects the officer is working on. Nichols says he is fascinated by the embassy and diplomatic work and sees this internship as an opportunity to see what role our government plays in Peru. Nichols is one of two applicants selected from many applicants from colleges all over the country. Although he will not be paid for the internship, housing is provided for interns in a government-owned house located near the embassy. Nichols has been an active member of the Roanoke College community. He was voted Outstanding New Leader in 2004 by the Student Life Council and the Student Government Association. He has been a member of the Lutheran Student Movement, the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, Maroon Corps, and served as Chairman of the Student Conduct Council/Academic Integrity Boards. He also has participated in the Roanoke College Choir; the a cappella group Looking for an Echo; Xi Theta Chi; and served as a Resident Advisor.
