King's Students Present Research at U.S. Capitol March 1, 2006 – King's College students Emily Long and Holly Simpson recently presented their research on the effects of xenobiotic compounds on fish behavior at the annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience in Washington D.C. The students' research investigated the effects of fluoxetine, an antidepressant in sewage effluent, on fish aggression and locomotion. The work is related to the growing concern within the environmental community over the possible effects of pharmaceuticals and personal care products on aquatic organisms. Emily Long is the daughter of Maryanne and Blair Long and resides in Wapwallopen. She is a junior majoring in environmental science and plans to attend graduate school. Holly Simpson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jermiah Simpson and resides in Zion 's Grove. She is a junior majoring in environmental science and biology and plans to attend graduate school or medical school. |
