According to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board... According to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Texas A&M University provides the largest number of tuition rebates in the State of Texas. The $1,000 Tuition Rebate for Certain Undergraduates program provides a financial incentive for students to complete their bachelor's degree with as few courses outside the degree plan as possible which minimizes the number of courses taken by students and results in financial savings to the students, their parents and the state. In 2002-2003, 1,892 students received a tuition rebate from a public university in Texas. Nearly half of these (48%) were awarded by Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Texas A&M University awarded 916 tuition rebates. In total, Texas A&M University rebated to students $915,265.00. In second place, Texas State University-San Marcos provided 260 rebates, and, in third place, the University of North Texas provided 148.
