Texas A & M University Offers Career Horizons! CAREER HORIZONS is a three-day interdisciplinary experience designed to acquaint students with the study of and potential careers in professions utilizing art, architectural design, landscape architecture, and construction science. Activities include lectures and presentations by faculty and students in the College of Architecture, workshops in basic design and materials, individual and group projects, a review and critique of projects, and information about Texas A&M University and the College of Architecture. The program schedule begins on Wednesday evening, June 1, 2005, with registration, a brief orientation, and the first project. Thursday and Friday, June 2 and 3, will be devoted to lectures, workshops, and projects. The final review and farewell brunch will take place on Saturday morning, June 4. Checkout will follow. Applicants should be current high school sophomores or juniors who have an interest in design, planning, or building construction as a career. Previous study in art, drafting, or design is helpful but not required. Interested students must be willing to commit time and effort in individual and group projects during the program. The total cost this year is $50. The $50 will be payable upon the student’s acceptance into the program, and will cover tuition, room and board in a University residence hall, and project materials and supplies. Applications for the Career Horizons 05 are due by April 22, 2005.
